If they can get Coach Q - do it!!!!

Second winnings coach in NHL history, I heard someone say. Kinda just what the doctor ordered in a town that DEMANDS winning and takes sports WAY too seriously (I haven't lived there in 25 years but take it from me - sports matter in Philly)

The brass say they want to win now? This team as Ek suggests doesn't do that often enough. Sometimes they look great. Other times they look pathetic (think: against the Jets yesterday or the game vs. the Sharks earlier in the season).

They have the money. They have the team. I bet they even have the deal in place.

They might have to work a deal to keep the new assistant coach on board but that's likely not a big thing. He's there to help Provo and Ghost play like top D-first-men

Hitch appears to have changed the Oilers fortunes immediately, Q could probably do the same for the Flyers but they still need a true top six center or winger as well.

The Hawks should rehire him and remove the front office. The front office is where the real problem exists.

1. Does Joel Quenneville make the Flyers better right now?

Yes, he is an experienced coach who has some cup victories. I do not believe coaching is the issue but no coach is perfect and Q is a good coach

2. Should they be waiting this out even if they could still be left at the alter?

Yes, He is the best coach available. If he says no, stick with hakstol for the rest of the season and reevaluate during the offseason.

3. Should Hakstol be allowed to coach the rest of the year?

As per above yes. The team has looked like it has improved since Hextall was fired. Still some areas to cleanup.

4. If not coach Q, who is the best fit for the Flyers?

Not of fan of anyone outside of Q.

I'm hearing of a possible 3 way trade between the Leafs, Flyers and Blackhawks. Quenneville to Flyers, Nylander to Blackhawks and Provorov to Leafs. Everyone must sign simultaneously on Skype and the league office must be notified by Ek. More to come. Stay tuned. What say you?

If Q is still under contract from the Hawks, does Philly have to compensate Chicago for picking him up? If so, I would think the Hawks would ask for a 1st round draft choice or a prospect or two?

It'll take a Backcock contract to make Q walk away from that massive guaranteed $.

Thanks for the 1st rounder. Nothing against you guys, but I hope you then fall apart the rest of the season and it turns into another lottery pick for us.

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- Draft-pick compensation for the hiring of coaches and executives from other teams will be eliminated, effective Jan. 1, Commissioner Gary Bettman said Tuesday following the completion of the Board of Governors meeting.

Q is the only coach who I would either play the waiting game for or see as a possible game changer for this team. If not him, and you are Fletcher, leave Hakstol in place for the remainder of the season and work on player evaluations.

It could be that Q. is waiting to see what kind of deals the Flyers make, or more significantly, if they make a deal that he endorsed, before inking the contract. That would imply that he will be given more say in the make up of the team. Not necessarily a bad thing, but could lead to issues down the road.

While the Flyers have been inconsistent since Hextall was fired, they have shown flashes of being a better team. They are however a very fragile team psychically and seem to be ready to collapse at the moments notice.

Even when Brian Elliott is ready, don't put him or Neurverth back as # 1 and 2. Let Stoltz and Lyons prove they can play.
Those other two aren't in our future plans.

Send them both to the Phantoms

I think Q still ends up in St. Louis after another round of player changes. Possibly not until next season though. Q never wanted to leave St. Louis. It’s likely he’d come back and fix the misery.

Not sure about the compensation being dropped for hiring other teams’ coaches, but assuming it's not true for the moment, I would think Chicago would take a bag of pucks to rid themselves of a huge contract they’re getting nothing for.

Don’t think it was smart to fire Q before the Stan.

Q is an overrated coach. His systems are old, the league caught up to him. Move along.

Joel has enough $$$ to bide his time to pick an up and coming team, which buys you more time as a head coach. Note all the excellent teams Mike Keenan coached. Philly, Chicago, Rangers. All deep and experienced teams that had playoff success. Gives him a great record and lots of job offers. And Scotty Bowman too. You gotta have the horses to succeed as a coach or you are tapping out early.
